The problem with what we want – a poem

when do we decide something invaluable
or no longer enough?
to want what we didn’t want in the first place,
and want it enough for the day,
enough for the month,
like sales olympics for all trends collected
and it’s never buy none and save guilt-free.

when sweet is just as good as seasoned,
when do we devalue our own people?
when do we decide when to fix
or when to discard like old shoes?
the not trying or the stopped trying
and the trade of great efforts
for potential no effort.

imagine beauty with no eye to behold,
an unfold of the lost and found,
and I wonder if it’s the too much,
the too much of everything
too quickly.

or is it the thought that counts?
the thought that makes the treasure,
the memory, the sentiment,
a practicing appreciator.
